I live! New chiptunes and transcriptions.

(January 27th 2010)

Happy New Year, visitors. Lots of new goodies, so I'll start with The Big Ones. Two original NES chiptunes I wrote for C-Jeff's excellent seasonal omnibus albums released on his Ubiktune netlabel; "Super Soaker" and "Heavenly Spores" respectively, they are available on the Originals page. However, I strongly recommend checking out the full albums at Ubiktune. There's ridiculous talent sprawled across the three releases, including tracks by Shnabubula, virt, Kulor, coda, xaimus... I really could go on. Also, stay tuned for Wintertunes, which I'll also be doing a track for. While I didn't do a track for the Springtunes album, I may do a Spring-inspired tune in the coming months anyway :) might as well finish the set. It's been a pretty big honour to participate in these projects.

Famicompo mini vol VI ran over the last couple of months, and this year I entered five tracks, four of which were originally for a 30songsin30days project (which came to a halt on day 13 when my hard drive blew up), and one of which was a cover I made back in July last year. More details on the Originals and Covers pages.

I've added some new vgm transcriptions from Front Mission: Gun Hazard, Super Ice Hockey, and Klonoa. There's also four new OHCs for anyone who's interested.

Finally, I remade all the NES-style tunes from "Yume Nikki" as NSFs. If you haven't heard of this game, it's a freeware RPG Maker game made by kikiyama that has gathered a strong cult following on the internet over the last couple of years. This is available on the covers page. I think that brings me up to speed.

This update would have come sooner, however I lost FTP access for over two months due to the aforementioned hard drive failure (lost my login details, kind of dumb.) Fortunately I didn't lose a lot of major stuff. Backup your data, it is important!

New sequences, compositions, major overhaul, etc.

(June 15th 2009)

I've re-formatted all the pages on the site - now with 90% less reading material. Lots of redundant text was removed, which should make both browsing and updating the site a lot easier. Plenty of new content added as well - a bunch of video game transcriptions, half a dozen new compositions since the last update (as well as some new recordings of old ones), loads of new OHCs as well. You may also notice that the NSF section is gone - those have now been merged into the other pages, though you can still find all my chiptune stuff in one place at 8bitcollective.

Updates have been kind of irregular I realise, and for that I apologise. My youtube channel is a much better place to check for updates these days - please subscribe if you're interested! That said, now that I've put some demons to bed regarding this site, it should be less of a hassle to add new stuff. As always, if you notice anything that's broken, shoot me an e-mail!

Biiiiiiiiig update time!

(December 6th 2008)

Hello visitors! It has again been a long period since I last updated the site. You might be glad to know that I've got lots of new stuff put up though. In a nutshell, I've added 16 more video game music covers I've done since the last update, an OHC track from February I had forgotten about (and I also tidied the OHC section a bit), two more NSFs, and I've also put up two new sections: SoundFonts and Games (with 7 new video game soundfonts and two flash games also added). Ohhh, good times! I've also added a link button to my youtube profile, where I've been uploading videos of all my video game music covers. All this free stuff!

Be sure to contact me if you find any broken links. Always useful. :)

50+ new videogame covers

(April 18th 2008)

A bit later than I planned (isn't it always?) but I've completely re-done the covers section. Not only have I trimmed the fat (that is, no useless banter about each sequence anymore), but over the last nine weeks or more, I've sequenced somewhere in the region of 55 new midis, which have all now been added. I know, rite? Far too much to list here - just go check it out, and e-mail me if you find any broken links or other funk. I'll also be updating the other sections sometime.. whenever.. :)

Update: I worked on the remixes section, changed the site button, removed the superfluous butterfly, and changed the site name to Iridescent Audio. I don't use this site for anything but music anymore, so it didn't make sense to have a site name that encompassed more than it needed to.

Site is back!

(February 12th 2008)

I apologise for the long down-time. The problem is still not fully solved, however. You may have to update your links/bookmarks to http://www.shakal.net/lunar as the old address is in a bizarre sitepreviewer frame that messes up the site. No idea. Also, hosting is a bit uncertain at the moment... I don't know how much longer this site will last at this location. At least it's working properly again though. Thanks to Sid for the help! I'll post some new stuff shortly... WAY behind with updates.
